The course
Red Mountain sits on 1,400 rai of abandoned tin mine above Kathu. Morrow's routing uses the mine's cliffs, gullies and flooded pits instead of hiding them, so you get elevated tees, shots down to greens far below and a few holes where you cannot see the target. It was his first 18-hole design. Top100 Golf Courses ranks it 11th in Thailand and 2nd in the south of the country.
The club is blunt about logistics: every golfer takes a cart because the elevation and the distances between greens and tees make it unwalkable for most people, and caddies are mandatory as at all Thai courses. A marshal keeps rounds to 4 hours 15 minutes.
New holes and the temporary routing
Construction of six new back-nine holes, carved through jungle, started in March 2025. According to Golf Course Trades (2 September 2026), four of the new holes are open, the new par-4 16th and 17th are still being built, and Morrow expects all six to be in play by January 2027. Until then the club runs a full 18 on a temporary routing that uses selected holes from the original layout.
New holes described in that article: a 507-yard par-5 10th, a 125-yard par-3 11th, a par-3 13th with a 56-metre drop from tee to green (billed as the new signature hole) and a 449-yard par-4 18th. Which holes are in play on your day is a question for the club when you book.
Should you play before January 2027? You still get 18 holes and the terrain the course is known for. If playing the finished layout matters to you, time your visit after the club announces it; we will update this page when it does.

The agent also lists a THB 200 on-course kiosk coupon and a sleeve of balls per golfer. The club's own site shows no prices.

Getting there
The club is in the hills of Kathu, in the middle of the island. From Patong it is about 20 minutes by taxi; from Phuket International Airport allow about 45 minutes, and from the Laguna hotels at Bang Tao about 30. Loch Palm, under the same owner, is next door, so the two are easy to combine over consecutive days.
Dress code per the club: collared shirt and appropriate footwear; shorts are encouraged and a hat is suggested. The club also suggests an umbrella for sun and showers and a rain cover for your bag.
When to play
November to April is the dry season: January averages 35 mm of rain over 4 days, December 80 mm, November around 195 mm over 14 days. The May to October monsoon peaks near 325 mm in September. The club issues rain checks for rain-affected rounds.
Tee off before 8:00 or after 14:00 to stay out of the 31–34 °C midday heat, and in the wet months plan to finish by 14:00.
How to book
Book it yourself. The club takes bookings by email through mbkgolf.com and by phone on +66 81 968 8169, and you pay at the club. A taxi from Patong takes about 20 minutes.
Play it with a host. A Hosted Golf day at Red Mountain includes hotel pick-up, the tee time, caddie and cart, a host who plays all 18 holes with your group, and lunch and a massage afterwards.
